Classification of mirrors:
Generally, there are two kinds of mirrors: silver mirror and aluminum mirror. The paint on the back of these two kinds of mirrors contains lead, so strictly speaking, they can not be used as environmentally friendly mirrors.
In recent years, there has been a breakthrough in the technology of silver mirrors, and lead-free paint can be used. This kind of mirror is called lead-free and copper free mirror, which can be called environmental protection mirror. The back paint of this kind of mirror is light grey, which is rarely sold in China and basically all exported.
Aluminum mirror let’s get to know silver mirror and aluminum mirror first. A silver mirror is a silver plated mirror, while an aluminum mirror is an aluminum plated mirror. Generally, the mirrors on the market are silver mirrors or aluminum mirrors. With the development of time, more and more people agree with the idea of environmental protection. Because the paint on the back of silver mirror and aluminum mirror contains lead, which is harmful to human body, the term “environmental protection mirror” has gradually been put forward in the market. Environmental protection mirror is also called lead-free and copper free mirror. Its back paint is light gray. This kind of lead-free and copper free mirror is named after applying lead-free back paint on the copper free mirror. It has stronger oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance than other mirrors.
Aluminum mirror is also called aluminized mirror, aluminum mirror, glass mirror, mirror glass and mirror plate glass. The high reflection aluminum mirror is made of high-quality float glass plate as the original sheet, which is cleaned and polished, high vacuum metal deposition and aluminum plating, rapid oxygen reaction, the first coat of corrosion-resistant paint spraying and drying, and the second coat of waterproof and hard paint spraying and drying. Advanced float aluminum mirror can be made into colored mirror / color mirror of various colors to increase different decoration effects, such as gray mirror, Tan mirror, green mirror, blue mirror, etc. The thickness ranges from 1.1mm to 8mm, and the maximum size of the aluminum mirror plate is 2440x1830mm (96 x 72 inches).
Difference between silver mirror and ordinary mirror:
- 1.Silver mirror is coated with silver nitrate, which is not easy to oxidize and rust. Ordinary mirrors can replace silver nitrate with mercury nitrate or mercury sulfate to save costs, but the stability of mercury is not as good as that of silver, and it is easy to oxidize and rust.
- 2.The silver mirror is much clearer than the ordinary mirror, and the geometric angle of reflection of the object’s light source is more standardized. Ordinary mirrors have low reflectivity, and the reflection performance of ordinary mirrors is about 70%, which is easy to be distorted in shape and color, short in life, and poor in corrosion resistance.
- 3.In terms of quality, it is generally mercury, but the quality and production process are very different. High quality products should be waterproof, and will not be distorted over time. Ordinary products will become spent over time.
